Gears 5 picks up shortly after the events of Gears of War 4.
Now three years after 2016 – Gears of War is now back simply titled as Gears 5, with some necessary changes, and it also released on Game Pass on the same day for Ultimate users. It was a test to see whether the new team called The Coalition can build a proper Gears game without alienating the fan base with too many ideas. While Gears 4 was a good game, but it felt a bit safe, and did not bring too much new to the table.
This includes many old Xbox Exclusives, but also newly released Xbox exclusive games such as Halo, and Gears 5 is included in their offering. Customers pay a monthly fee and get instant access to a large catalogue of games. Besides buying studios left and right, one of their other initiatives is Xbox Game Pass. There's a "deadly new predator", too.With Microsoft gearing up to the next generation, they are doing everything to have an audience for their future games. You can use and upgrade ultimate abilities in this expansion, with up to three-player co-op split-screen or online. You can play as Lahni, Keegan and Mac - the characters from Gears 5's Escape mode - in their first mission as part of the Hivebuster program. Hivebusters is a new, three-hour campaign set on the volcanic Galangi islands. The expansion is not included with the standard Xbox Game Pass subscription, which costs £7.99 a month. It's a significant push for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs £10.99 a month (although you can get your first three months for £1).
Gears 5: Hivebusters is the first Xbox Game Studios campaign expansion to join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate day-and-date with release, Zoë Curnoe, production director at Gears developer The Coalition, said in a blog post on Xbox Wire. Otherwise, it's sold separately for $19.99, or is included with the Gears 5: Game of the Year Edition, also due out on 15th December. Hivebusters comes out on Tuesday, 15th December, and is available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on console, PC and Android devices the same day as its global release. The Gears 5: Hivebusters campaign expansion is included with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, Microsoft has announced.
